Nevada News

So these are the only pictures that my computer is uploading. This is the front room of our trailer while we were moving in. There is a pop-out that adds a lot of space. The kitchen is in the corner on the first picture.
I will hopefully be able to get more up but the internet is really slow and doesn't love to do that. Maybe they will make it onto facebook.

Nevada Pro's and Con's

Pro's
  • we have our own house
  • I get to teach 9 great kids
  • I get to practice the organ every Sunday after church without having to worry about being called as the ward organist.
Con's
  • There are pack rats living under our house (were in it before)
  • Only one tree in our back yard
  • We don't have any grass
  • The church is 45 min away and the temple is 4 hours away.
Over all it isn't too bad out here. The kids are really fun and only two of them have cried. (one because he didn't want to leave!)
The rats have been mostly kicked out and cleaned out or killed.
I really hope that I get used to this place. It is a little drab but there is apparently really good hunting for Anthony. That should be good.

I got a job!

I have been looking for a teaching job all summer long. I had an interview at the beginning of the summer at Preston, but I didn't get the position. I didn't think that I would be able to get one this year because I hadn't had anymore interviews by the end of July. Then I got a call to d
o an interview in Nevada. Well I was able to do a Skype interview on the 28th of July. I got a call the next day saying they wanted me to go to Nevada to do another interview. Well on Aug. 3rd Anthony and I drove down to
Crescent Valley, Nevada. Here are some of the things we saw pulling into the town.

These are some of the houses we saw in town.

This is the senior citizen center. What a great
place to be right?

This was my favorite picture. It is the entrance to the fairgrounds. The sign says, "Crescent Valley A town with a future."

Well after driving around town a bit, we met with the hiring committee. There was the principal, a teacher, and a parent. We took a tour of the school as they asked questions. They were pretty much saying, "Please be our teacher!" After they talked for a bit they officially offered me the job. The principal answered our questions for a little while and then took us to see where we were going to live. (sorry, I'll have to get pictures of the school later)

This looks a little scary from the outside. I was pretty skeptical, but it isn't too bad. We also get the first 6 months free. There is enough room to park our camper trailer and the horse trailer. We even get a tree!

The town we actually live in is called Beowawe. (Bay-oh-wow-ee)
It is a registered Nevada Ghost Town. There used to be some geysers, but they have been converted into energy sources now. Here is their lovely library, just a little north of where we live.

Oh what a year!

My goodness time flies. You know me and how I don't communicate well with electronics. Call anytime and I'll chat but I sure hate doing the calling.
Well here is a little catch-up. I did my student teaching in Millville Elementary. I taught 5th grade for 6 weeks and 1st for six weeks of student teaching.

This is a game I made for my first graders on the smartboard. They loved it!

Here are the kids in my 1st grade class with the glasses they made celebrating their 100th day of school.
The teacher I was with in the first grade got into a car accident so I took over the class for the rest of the year. It was a really good experience. I enjoyed int (most of the time).

In October, Anthony and I got married. Here are some pictures from that.
